Jason writes: Dr. Dave, I am suppose to get married in June to my girlfriend I have been dating since I was 15. I am 21 and she is 19. The problem Dr. Dave is she refuses to work. Not only does she keep the house a wreck while I work. She refuses to look for a job to help with the bills and hopefully with some of our dreams. What should I do.
Dr. Dave replies: Dear Jason, How do you young folks get yourself into such a pickle. Just think about it Jason and you know the answer, you my not like it, but you know that she isn't interested in your dreams. They are not ya'lls dreams, if she refuses to work and won't even keep the house clean it is pretty clear she has no goals or dreams, except to have to do nothing she doesn't want. If this is the way you want to spend your life then you have found a pearl, if it isn't I see a divorce in the not to distant future. Put the wedding on hold for now and see if she matures any in the next year or two, both of you are young and have plenty of time to screw up your lives so why get in such a hurry. Maybe she will change, it not you are a young man and should have no trouble finding a mate that shares your dreams and is willing to help. Believe me, building toward your dreams and goals is a two person job at the least.
Good Luck, Dr. Dave
